MYB players of today will be the potential MHS basketball players of tomorrow.

The MYB program is vital for developing and maintaining an efficient and competitive basketball program. The relationship between the high school staff and the MBA must have a common vision for the overall success of the program. Open communication and a positive working relationship between the two is a must for the development of a successful youth program.

Goals of the Youth Program

  • Allow kids to enjoy themselves and remember youth basketball should be a fun, developmental experience.

  • Teach players the skills and fundamentals they need to be successful in the future.

  • Help them improve their skills.

  • Just like anything in life, you must have a solid foundation and learn fundamentals before you can be successful.

  • Teach players how to be successful in basketball by teaching discipline, honesty, focus, priorities, attitude, helping others and teamwork, and they learn skills they can use the rest of their life.

  • Be patient, teaching fundamentals takes time; we are setting a foundation for those kids to be successful in the future.

A cooperative team spirit must be cultivated both on and off the court. A program where coaches and players come to understand that they are part of something more important and bigger than their individual concerns can achieve more and will obtain more satisfaction from the overall experience.
